What can you not bring into a casino in Ontario?
Updated · CasinoOntario.org editorial team
You generally can’t bring outside alcohol, illegal drugs or weapons into a casino in Ontario, and most venues bar cameras from the gaming floor. Security can inspect your bags. Beyond that the rules differ by venue, so this guide sets out what six large casinos publish, along with what to wear and which ID to carry.
What you can’t bring in, venue by venue
Each venue words its rules differently, and a blank here means the venue’s pages we read didn’t address it.
| Casino | Alcohol and drugs | Cameras and phones | Bags |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fallsview Casino Resort | No outside alcohol. No cannabis in any form on the property. | No photos or video on the gaming floor. No phones at tables or slots. | Allowed but inspected. Large bags and backpacks can’t go into the OLG Stage. |
| Casino Niagara | No outside alcohol. No smoking or vaping cannabis on the property. | No photos or video on the gaming floor. No phones at tables or slots. | Allowed but inspected. Oversized items may have to stay in your car or room. |
| Great Canadian Toronto and Pickering | No outside alcohol or illicit substances, and no weapons. No cannabis on the property. | At their theatres: no cameras, drones or recording devices. | All bags, parcels and cases can be inspected. Theatres ban most bags. |
| Casino Rama Resort | Your own alcohol only in your hotel room. No cannabis in public areas or rooms. | No cameras or recording devices on the casino floor. | |
| Caesars Windsor | No illegal controlled substances or marijuana. | No cameras or photography equipment on the casino floor, and no drones. |
You also can’t bring food or drink onto the floor at Casino Rama. Fallsview, Casino Niagara, Casino Rama and Caesars Windsor don’t admit pets. The two Great Canadian hotels take cats and dogs for a fee, but not on the gaming floor. Service animals are welcome at all six.
Casino dress code: what to wear to a casino in Ontario
Everyday clothes are fine. None of these casinos publishes a formal dress code for the floor, and the rules that exist are about basics and offensive messages:
- The dress code at Fallsview and at Casino Niagara asks for shirts and shoes, and bars clothing with an obscene, offensive, intimidating or threatening message. Fallsview adds that casual clothes are generally fine.
- Great Canadian’s code of conduct bars clothing or accessories with gang-related branding, obscene graphics or profane language.
- Casino Rama says there’s no dress code at any of its restaurants, and its FAQ states no rule for the floor.
- Caesars Windsor’s FAQ and conditions of entry state no dress code.
Dress up only for dinner: 21 Club, Ponte Vecchio and Golden Lotus at Fallsview ask for business casual.
Which ID to carry
Bring valid, government-issued photo ID in its original form. Fallsview, Casino Niagara and Great Canadian all check anyone who looks under 30, and Great Canadian won’t accept pictures or photocopies. If you’re 21 or younger, Fallsview, Casino Niagara and Casino Rama also want a second piece. ID at Casino Rama must carry your signature too.
Age limits
You must be 19 to enter a casino or slot facility in Ontario. At the province’s charitable gaming centres the minimum age is 18; all 37 are listed by town. Some casino hotels, restaurants and theatres do admit younger guests, and each card spells out the venue’s rule.
Smoking, vaping and cannabis
You can’t smoke on any of these gaming floors. Fallsview has covered, heated terraces off the floor, Caesars Windsor heats its outdoor lounges in winter, and the others point you to designated outdoor areas. Casino Rama also keeps designated smoking rooms in its hotel. Vaping follows the same limits, and cannabis isn’t allowed on casino property.

Two venues with new names
Gateway Casinos London reopened as Cascades Casino London on 23 June 2026, after a renovation, and Rideau Carleton Casino is now Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Ottawa. OLG’s casino list still shows the old names.
Self-exclusion and help
OLG’s self-exclusion program for its casinos is My PlayBreak. BetGuard, Ontario’s self-exclusion portal for gambling websites, doesn’t cover casino floors. For free help at any hour, call ConnexOntario at 1-866-531-2600; our gambling help page lists more options.
