How we verify casino information

Updated · CasinoOntario.org editorial team

A casino guide is only useful if it’s right on the day you visit. Hours change, venues get renamed, gaming floors grow and shrink. Here is how we keep up.

Where our facts come from

  • The venue’s own website, or its operator’s: Great Canadian, Gateway, Mohegan, Caesars or Hard Rock.
  • OLG: its list of casinos, its list of charitable gaming centres and its annual report.
  • The AGCO, Ontario’s gaming regulator, for rules that apply to every venue.

We don’t copy figures from other guides, travel sites or forums, and we don’t fill gaps from memory. If we can’t confirm something, we leave it out — which is why some cells in our casino tables are blank.

We keep the record

For every venue we note where each detail came from and the day we checked it. Those notes stay in our files, not on the page: email admin@casinoontario.org and we’ll point you to the source behind any detail. We re-check every venue at least once a quarter, and straight away when we hear that something has changed.

When official sources disagree

Official lists sometimes lag behind. OLG’s casino list still shows “Gateway Casinos – London”, although the venue reopened as Cascades Casino London on 23 June 2026 after its renovation, and “Rideau Carleton Casino” for what is now Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Ottawa. In cases like these we follow the operator’s current information and keep the old name alongside, because people still search for it.

What we describe, and how

Our pages describe what venues and their operators publish, checked against each other. When a page includes first-hand experience, it says so — we never dress up a description as a visit.

Found a mistake?

Email admin@casinoontario.org with the page address and what’s wrong. We check the report against an official source, fix the page and update its date.
